We want to thank everyone who made the 35th Annual Franciscan Sports Banquet and Silent Auction a success! It was indeed a winning “touchdown” and a transforming evening with two-time Super Bowl Champion quarterback, Eli Manning receiving the Saint Francis Award and a roster of winning coaches and professionals including Jackie DiNardo, Head Girls’ Basketball Coach, Danbury High School taking home the Saint Clare Award. Rich Marazzi, Author and MLB Rules Consultant, was grateful to receive the Dean of Sports Award. The Mother Shaun Appreciation Award was given to Tom and Donna Finn for their years of transforming others through their professions and through their dedication to programs for strengthening marriage and family life. Coach Jim Calhoun, who comes every year to support the program, spoke about his history with the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist. We are grateful for Coach Kevin Gilbride, former Offensive Coordinator, New York Giants, for his remarkable introduction of Eli Manning; George Grande, Cincinnati Reds Baseball Announcer, for his motivational and encouraging words; and Chip Salvestrini, Athletic Director, Danbury High School, who spoke about the good works of Jackie DiNardo, on and off the court.
Over 720 guests came out to the Aqua Turf Club to support the programs and services of the Franciscan Life Center and Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care. A great night. Thank you for coming!
